Veterans planning underway
Avon Veterans of Foreign Post No. 7035 will meet Thursday, Nov. 11, at 8 p.m. at the post home, 36950 Mills Road. Plans are being made for the nursing home visit scheduled for Veterans Day, and also for the Sunday, Nov. 14, steak fry.
Autumn Rebels luncheon
Autumn Rebels will meet next Tuesday at noon in The Barn, 37711 Detroit Road. The meeting will begin with a $5.75 catered lunch. All adults age 50 and over are welcome. Reservations can be made with Sis Wernert at 934-4445.
Marching band competition
The Avon High School marching band has qualified for the Ohio Musical Educational Association finals for the third consecutive year. They will compete at the Akron Rubberbowl tomorrow.
Research club's 'appraisal'
The Avon Research Club will meet at the home of Ann Allen, Garden Drive, on Friday, Nov. 12 at 1 p.m. Cathy Cummings will appraise antiques for the membership.

Story program for infants
A special story program will be offered for newborns through 12 month olds and a parent or caregiver on Thursday, Nov. 18, at 10:30 a.m. The free program is sponsored in celebration of Children's Book Week with the support of a grant from the Nord Family Foundation. Preregister by calling the library at 934-4743.
Band's tag day fundraiser
The city-wide annual tag day fundraiser in support of the Avon High School band has been moved to Saturday, Nov. 13. Band students will be visiting neighborhoods asking for donations. Proceeds will be used to defray band expenses.
Craft tables available
Reservations are being taken for tables at Christmas In The Barn, scheduled at the Avon United Methodist Church Saturday, Dec. 4. For additional information, call Peggy Crosby at 937-5874 or Cindy Sherman at 365-2786. The cost is $10 for church members and $25 for non-members.
School PTA meeting
The next meeting of the Avon Village School PTA will be Wednesday, Nov. 10, at 7 p.m. in the school library. All parents are welcome and invited to attend.
Monarch butterflies discussed
The Avon Women's Club will meet on Monday, Nov. 8, at 7 p.m. at the Lion's Community Center on Eaton Drive. Linda Paull, senior naturalist at the French Creek Nature Center, will present a program on Monarch butterflies.
