Adult book discussion: The book discussion group will talk about ''Atonement'' on May 25, 2:30 p.m. at the Avon Branch Library. Copies of the books are available at the library. New members are welcome.
City meetings: City Council will have a work session today at 7:30 p.m. at City Hall.
Baby-sitting class: The Lorain County chapter of the American Red Cross is offering a course on baby-sitting basics at the Avon Branch of the Lorain Public Library System. The course runs from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. on June 5 and 6, and again on June 12 and June 13. The course is targeted at children ages 11 to 15, focusing on fun, safety and first aid. Students must register with the Red Cross in advance. There is a $35 fee, which includes a textbook and first-aid kit. For more information, call 324-2929.
