City Council to meet
Avon City Council meets in regular session Monday, Jan. 22 at 7:30 p.m. in City Hall at Chester and Center roads.
Book discussion talk
The Afternoon Book Discussion Group will discuss ''The Great Gatsby'' on Tuesday, Jan. 23 at 2 p.m. at the Avon Branch Library. The presentation is free and open to the public.
Endowment group meeting
The Avon Educational Endowment Fund group will meet Thursday, Jan. 25 at 7:30 p.m. in the library at Avon Middle School.
Post's Super Bowl party

Here's what's cooking in the Avon schools from Jan. 18 to 25:
Avon East and Village Elementary:
- Today: Subway-style sandwich, baby carrots with dip, cinnamon pears, cookie, milk
- Friday: No school
- Monday: Hot dog on bun, French fries, diced peaches, milk
- Tuesday: Lasagna, garlic bread, green beans, diced pears, milk
- Wednesday: Pepperoni pizza, tossed salad, applesauce, milk, spice cake
- Thursday: French toast sticks, sausage patty, hash browns, orange juice, milk
Middle and high school:
- Today: Subway-style sandwich or chicken stir fry and rice, baby carrots with dip, cinnamon pears, milk
- Friday: No school
- Monday: Foot-long hot dog on bun or soft pretzel with cheese sauce, tater tots, diced peaches, milk
- Tuesday: Lasagna with breadstick or filet of fish with cheese on bun, green beans, diced pears, milk
- Wednesday: Pepperoni pizza or stacked ham and cheese, tossed salad, pineapple tidbits, milk, cookie
- Thursday: Buttermilk pancakes, cheese eggs, hash browns, orange juice, milk
