Financial aid meeting
The Avon High School guidance department will offer a financial aid informational meeting, Thursday, Jan. 20 at 6:30 p.m. in the high school library. Debbie Richter, representative from the Lorain County Access to Higher Education Program, will present an overview of the financial aid process and answer your questions.
Spaghetti dinner on menu
A home-cooked spaghetti dinner will be Saturday, Jan. 15, in The Barn of Avon United Methodist Church from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tickets for adults are $5, and children 10 and under are $3.50. The event is sponsored by Missions Commission and Youth Group. The public is welcome.
Preschool information day
Avon Preschool Information Day, sponsored by the Avon Preschool Parents Club, will be Saturday, Jan. 15, in the Avon Community Center, Eaton Drive, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Representatives from various local preschools will be available to answer questions and to provide information regarding their programs. Sign up for story times
Sign up for the winter session of the preschool storytime. Offered free to 3- to 5-year-olds, the sessions are from Mondays, Jan. 17 to March 27, at 6:30 p.m. or 7:30 p.m.; Tuesdays, Jan. 18 through March 28, at 10:30 a.m. or 1 p.m.; or Thursdays, Jan. 20 to March 9, at 1 p.m. Preregistration is required by calling the Avon Branch Library at 934-4743.
Garden club meeting
The Avon Garden Club will meet next Tuesday, Jan. 18, at 7 p.m. in Avon High School Commons. Members will be learning how to create a topiary tree. Hostess is Mrs. Richard Wilkenson. New members are welcome.
McDonald's family night
Join Knollwood PTO at the Colorado Avenue McDonald's for Family Night, Wednesday, Jan. 19, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. There will be plenty of warm soup and lots of friends. McDonald's will donate a percentage of sales (dine-in or drive-thru) to Knollwood.
Women's club meeting
The Avon Junior Women's Club will meet Monday, Jan. 17, at the Avon Community Center on Eaton Road at 7 p.m. New members are always welcome. For more info, call Beth Golik at 937-0045.
Parenting problem solutions
If you would like to learn positive, effective tools to use in raising your children, Larry Tracey -- parent, counselor, and professional speaker -- will present 'Simple Solutions to the Problems of Parenting,' Jan. 20 and Jan. 27 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Avon High School auditorium. The free workshop is open to all parents.
