Comments: My family moved to Avon from germany in 1952. My Father worked at Kathe Kreuzers (Later became Millers on Detroit road). We lived on Colorado Rd (37110) accross from the Dairy Treat and the Welding shop until 1969. I remember playing in French Creek, being on the swim team in Northgate and work at John's Atlantic gas station through High School. It was a great place to grow up. My best friend was Bob Shelton..who still lives there. I married my childhood sweetheart, Marlene Syphers, a cheerleader at Avon High. We now have 2 kids in college and live in Roswell, Ga, a suburb of Atlanta. I went back a couple of years ago and so much had changed. I did stop at Bucks Hardware and it was just as I remembered. The old rolltop desk that "Old Man Buck" used was still there. (That would be Craig's grandfather) Glad to see the website and remember some of the "good ole' Days" Dete Waehner

Have you ever been out on the lake in a boat off Avon Point? If you have you'd know how far off the point can be seen from. What a great place to create a sculpture of ...Wm. Shakespeare,the bard of Avon, in the pose of the Rodin sculpture of the thinker. If it were large enough its image could be made out from miles away, from the east and from the west, like some "Wonder of the World". It would distinguish the city and be the talk of northeast ohio.

I've enjoyed reading about the Cahoons. I am a descendant of John Rathbun, also an original settler of Block Island. I see from your site that Reynolds Cahoon married Rebecca Rathbun in the early 1700's so our families are connected, which is expected given the limited number of people on the Island.
