Mark Vickery (keyboard, guitar and vocals) and Patrick Henderson (drums, guitar and vocals), best friends since the 6th grade, had been playing in separate local bands for years. After reconnecting musically in 1994, they started doing their interpretations of favorite standards. They were inspired to begin writing their own songs and soon started thinking about forming a band.
They started playing music with Jason Spiller (lead guitar and vocals), a member of a former local band. Jason, too, was also interested in writing and performing original material, and interested, also, in singing and playing unique interpretations of classic Southern Rock and country songs. After a few sessions together, the creative juices began to flow and a fast musical friendship was established.
Ready to begin performing their material, new members were added. Shane Blalock (bass), who was a member of Jason's previous band, added his deep notes and steady rhythm. Alan Lang (vocals) completed the group with his strong and tuneful voice.
The chemistry was there from the first practice session. In a small studio called The House Of Love, SHILOH was born. Combining Mark's boogie, Jason's rock, Patrick's
beats, Shane's thump, and Alan's traditional country voice, SHILOH began to make a sound all of its own. The eclectic mix of musical backgrounds and creative influences brought together a rich new version of Southern Rock.
After playing together for only three months, SHILOH won the WTXT Battle Of The Bands in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. This lead to a frenzy of gigs in clubs and at local events all over Alabama. SHILOH has opened for the following: The Dixie Chicks, Kevin Sharp, Ty Herndon, Collin Raye, and Molly Hatchet.
SHILOH has established a powerful presence on the local music scene. Performances are energetic and creative, giving the band a hard-working reputation. SHILOH pulls the crowd into the show, where the fans find it easy to relate to the band's Southern Rock sound, down-home style, and honest lyrics.
Currently at work "laying down tracks" for their first CD and playing at gigs throughout the southeast, SHILOH invites you to come and listen to their music.
