Here are some frequently asked questions about library services:


Who is eligible for library service?
All residents of the Town of Manitowish Waters, and of adjacent communities who are part of the Northern Waters Library System, are eligible for service at no charge. Temporary residents of Manitowish Waters are adjacent communities are also eligible for service upon completion of the necessary registration forms. Other borrowers may be required to pay a small fee for service.  There is no minimum age for library service, but children under 16 will be required to have a parent’s consent signature on the application forms.

What materials and services do you offer?
The Frank B. Koller Memorial Library has a large selection of adult fiction and non-fiction, children’s and young adult books, CDs, video tapes, CD-ROM educational games, magazines, puzzles, audio cassettes, books-on-tape, and paperbacks. Books, CDs, audio tapes and most other items are available for a 2 week loan period. Video tapes are available for a 2 day loan. All patrons may take advantage of inter-library loan services if the items they are looking for are not owned by the Frank B. Koller Memorial Library.

How many items can I check out?
Each cardholder is allowed up to four (4) items per card at any time, with a maximum of three (3) video tapes. 

What are the penalties for overdue materials?
Most materials, with the exception of new adult fiction and video tapes, are available to be renewed for 2 additional weeks. Renewals may be made by phone. Fines for overdue materials will be 5¢ per day for each day the library is open. Fines on video tapes and on marked new adult fiction books will be 25¢ per day. Patrons will be charged the full replacement fee for any items lost or damaged beyond repair. 

Who can use the meeting room space at the library?
The Sullivan Room, constructed in 1988 and donated by Robert Sullivan in honor of his father, Willis G. Sullivan, is available as meeting space for community organizations. Contact the librarian to view the meeting room policy or to schedule use of the room.
