Kinder High 4-H Club

The Kinder high School 4-H Club is active in many areas of competition. Members compete in cooking contests, photography, livestock judging and exhibition, sewing workshops and competitions, public speaking, demonstrations, horse shows and rodeos, pet care, foresty, child development, food and nutrition, essay contests on various subjects, horticulture, job interviews, leadership, wildlife identification, crop production, insect identification, automotive, small engines, and tractors. Members may win trips to Washington, D. C. and many other cities in the United States. "Short Course" is held in Baton Rouge each summer for competition on the state level.

The main target of 4-H Club is to develop youth as they participate in various parish and state workshops and contests. The 4-H Club is educating the students who will become the adults of tomorrow. Members develop skills, learn group cooperation, leadership, improve their citizenship, and have fun. The aim is to "learn by doing."

The purpose of the 4-H Club is to develop leadership and increase the ability to produce better farm products. "4-H" stands for head, heart, hands, and health. The Allen Parish 4-H Club offers many scholoarships to seniors, and they also give out several trips to other states for winning certain contests.
