CROM

[Yang speaks on Crom.]

Crom is not a selfish, jealous, or petty God. He makes no claims about being the 'only' God, the 'one true God', or any other such self - gratifying remarks, for Crom's self does not need serving. He is beyond that, and he is greater than those Gods who clamour and beg for mortal recognition. What need hath the Great Crom of such? He is Great because he seeks not to further his Greatness. Only a lesser god need do that. Bah! The lesser gods know nothing of Crom's might, and are as mortals next to Father Crom.

Some gods would see a mortal damned, if the mortal does not worship him. Crom is not so petty: Crom scoffs at the behaviour of these lesser gods. Crom needs not the worship of mortals. Should people decide to worship some other God, Crom will never appeal to them or threaten them in any way, for Crom's transcendent serenity is appeal enough; what need has the Mighty Crom of threats? That which displeases Crom need not exist, for Crom has that power.

What god claims to be a creator and cannot exhibit control over that creation? What god threatens that which he created because he cannot create well enough to please himself? The fault of a faulty creation lies with the creator, so what god would be so foolish and inept at handling a creation that he must beg the creation to perform as he would like? No god but the god that sprouted in the dim recesses of a mere mortal mind. Father Crom and the Lady Mother have given rise to a creation which gives them pleasure of the sort that other gods will never know. As True Creators, the Lord and the Lady know how to rightly handle a creation.

The Father Crom is an image of satisfaction; contentedness; Gemutlichkeit; all things good. And Father Crom smiles upon those who can reflect his fortitude: Who is mightier than who seeks not might? Who fears fewer enemies than who seeks not enemies? Who has fewer needs than who has no expectations? Who teaches better than who does not teach, but questions? By Crom - who is more godly than who seeks not to be made a god: Crom seeks not our worship, and because of this is all the more deserving of it.

Crom does not ask me to follow him. He need not bend his knee to me and threaten me with his rantings. For he does not seek a follower who cowers in the dark and wilts in a cold wind. Such is not in the image of Crom: Crom is neither humble nor proud; and because of this is both: he is not humble - seek not to gain his ear by cowering before him; he is not impressed by that. But Crom is not proud, either: seek not dominion over other men, for Crom is not impressed by that either. Crom smiles upon goodwill and cheer. He smiles upon smiling. Crom smiles on both the buoyant idiocy of dogs and the curiosity of cats. Crom smiles upon the fouling of his name when the liquor has flown too much!

Crom smiles upon the Lady Mother and the creation they have made together. Yea, Crom laughs at the metaphysics of mortals, just as he laughs at the respect given unto him. He needs it not, but it pleases him. Irreverence shown unto him does not phase Crom, for Crom is beyond being offended by puny mortals or lesser gods. Curse him all ye will - and the smile shall not leave his visage, for Crom knows not the folly of inadqeuacy. And neither shall the True follower of Crom:

For know ye that to have seen the countenance of Crom is blessed and brave beyond even what the lesser Gods can manage. For the Father Crom has created even those puny beings, and they are nothing to him, for they can see him and are terrified of him, who knows not fear, and jealous of he who knows not jealousy. But who comes to Crom and is not afraid or jealous will see the face of Crom, and truly know their journey is complete, for the Father of All will have smiled directly upon ye, so ye shall know the joy of Crom, and the joy of true oneness with Crom's Creation.

For oneness with his Creation is the source of the happiness that cannot be ridded from Crom. For Crom has made no mistakes, and his creation pleases him greatly. The greatest law that the follower of Crom can submit to, is:

Be pleased by creation, and let creation be pleased.

Such behaviour is behaviour reflective of the Lord and Lady themselves.
