The Heavens Also Weep

by David L. Allen

Oh, the grief and awful pain,
So hard for us to bear.
A child's death,
Regardless of our giving.
Taking comfort from our faith,
In one's eternal living.
But it's hard.
It still hurts,
You know?

What of God?
How does He feel?
He loves us every one.
Sees past death,
As if it wasn't there.
But spiritual death,
By choice, and all our own,
Brings final separation.
How great His pain!
Can we say we love,
And yet cause this to our Father?
Yes there's joy untold up yonder,
But the heavens also weep.
