The Dickcissel

Site #8--

After a good rainfall, this area tends to be partly marshy with heavy reeds. Substantial flocks of Wigeons and Ruddy Ducks, Lesser and Greater Yellowlegs, Pectoral Sandpipers; occasional Little Blue Heron and Sora feed in the reeds.

In spring, a din of Dickcissels nest in the tall weeds. Flycatchers abound, especially Great-crested and Scissor-tailed. Some Eastern Kingbirds. Pair of Red-tailed Hawks live in a nearby tree. Abundance of Red-winged Blackbirds.
