As the new pastor of
Byhalia and Fountain Head United Methodist Churches, I would like to take this opportunity to tell every
one a little about me and my ministerial background. My home town is Batesville, Mississippi, and I grew up attending the First United Methodist Church there with my parents. I am the youngest of three
children. Having been active in church throughout my childhood and youth, I
value the influence the church has had throughout my life.

I
attended Millsaps College for one year transferring to Mississippi State University after changing my major to special education. I
received a Bachelor’s Degree in 1980. I taught at one of the state institutions
out of Oxford, Mississippi for three years prior to entering seminary.
I
entered Vanderbilt Divinity School in 1983 not really sure what type of ministry I would
pursue. I loved working with children and families, and I was not certain about
the pastoral ministry. Having graduated in 1986, I accepted my first
appointment as Minister of youth and Education at the First United Methodist Church in New Albany, Mississippi. Since that time I have served as pastor to numerous United Methodist Churches as well as Campus Minster at Delta State University
Just
prior to being appointed to Byhalia /Fountain Head I completed a two year
residency program in Clinical Pastoral Education at Methodist Healthcare in Memphis, Tennessee. During those two years I learned a lot about me and
others which, I believe is an asset to my gifts and skills for pastoral
ministry.
In
the short time I have been in Byhalia I discovered and am continuing to
discover the great opportunities for ministry and service that are a part of
the heritage and future of the church and the surrounding community. I look
forward to being partners in ministry as we seek to follow Christ.
In
Ministry together,
Vickie
