FROM YOUR PASTOR
-gleaned from Batesville 1st UMC newsletter:
An atheist
college professor was teaching a class. He told
Them he was going to prove there was no God. Raising
his eyes
Upward he challenged, “, if you are real, then I want
you to knock
me off this platform. I‘ll give you fifteen minutes.”
Ten minutes
Later he taunted God again by saying, “Here I am God I’m
still
Waiting”
He got down to the last couple of minutes
and a big 240
pound Linebacker from
the football team got up from his desk,
walked up to the platform, put a body block on the
professor,
and knocked him from the platform. The professor, crumpled
up
on the floor, looked up, and said, ”Why did you do that?”
The
linebacker said “God was busy, he sent me.”
Of course. “God is never too busy. But he DOES send us…
To preach the Word…
To help the needy…
To provide hospitality to strangers…
To comfort
the bereaved’’’
To befriend the lonely…
To teach and nurture the children…
To love one another…
To
invite others to share the Christ we know and love…
To be the God’s people in the world…
As we
begin planning for 2006 and how the church will be in
Ministry in our community and the
world. I hope everyone will
“roll up their sleeves” and
be busy about what God is calling us to
do. We can never know what a difference it can make in
someone’s
life- even our own.
