FIRE DESTROYED
      BYHALIA UNITED
           METHODIST

    Well not quite !!!
January 13, 2001 at about 10 pm fire erupted in the center section of our church building but  !!!
The Byhalia United Methodist
Church is ALIVE AND WELL
                    AND
       MUCH IN PRAYER!

East side of the building after fire was partially controlled but still burning in the center section , containing the Pastor's Study ,Sunday school rooms and choir room.

This view of the east side, taken the next day , shows the burned out center section. Brick were falling from the wall and trustees erected the fence to keep people out of danger. Roof is gone and whole center section will have to be  rebuilt. The Sanctuary on the front had only water damage but will have to be refurbished.
The rear section of the building (on the left of the picture) only had water damage.

This is picture of the hallway in which the fire started. The Sanctuary is to the left and sunday school room to the right . The Pastors study is just past the square hole in the floor, which is air return for furnace.

Rev. Jimmy Jackson looks , in wonder at the Choir room.  Only three stained glass windows were broken and they were in the hallway shown in the last picture.

Shown here is the hallway in the Nursery Dept. this is the second story or the section which contains the Fellow Ship Hall. The door in the back center has the only fire damage to this section of the building. Water damage does make much refurbishing necessary.

Service Pro Personnel are cleaning Nursery furniture and toys. Carpet will have to be replaced and some painting will take care of this area.

The Fellowship Hall , shown above, is ready for ceiling and floor to be replaced and with some painting will be ready to use as temporary Sanctuary.

YOUR PRAYERS WILL BE  MUCH APPRECIATED!
