Site #7--
- --The Lime Kiln Road gravel quarry is an excellent place to observe Bank Swallows and Northern Rough-winged Swallows in spring and summer.
Head north on Post Road, which begins at the traffic light across the railroad tracks from entrance of Aquarena Springs. In a few blocks, turn left on Lime Kiln Road, between an elementary school and a convenience store.
The road heads into hill country terrain, and the gravel pits will be on right after about a mile and half. Turn right at Cowan Road (CR 227), and immediately look for the giant mound of sandy dirt. Swallows are hard to see, thus, a scope is helpful.
Caution: road ends in private property, so be careful not to trespass when you turn around.
