- A wandering drive on Centerpoint Road (CR 234) east of IH 35, behind the Factory Outlet Mall, will produce similar results to those mentioned above.
From 123 enter IH 35, drive 3.8 miles to the Centerpoint exit where the frontage road takes you to the intersection of Centerpoint and IH 35. Cross over IH 35, heading east, and continue past the mall on Centerpoint. Pull off the road, scanning the ponds and fields.
This broad, rolling countryside is excellent for all kinds of birds.
South Ridge Estates offers good ponds. Go 1.5 miles on Centerpoint (from IH 35), turn right at 266, and then left on 234. Go another 1.9 miles, turn left into South Ridge.
Circle the lake to see wintering duck species such as Mallards, Gadwalls, Teal, American Widgeons, Northern Pintails, Northern Shovelers, Ruddy Ducks, Redheads, Canvasbacks, Ring-necked, Greater Scaup, Buffleheads, and occasionally Hooded Mergansers, Fulvous Whistling Ducks, or Wilson's Phalaropes.
