Yard Sale

A.S./A.P. and St. Clares are again going to benefit from a combined yard sale this year. The sale will be at the shelter in Sparta on Friday, May 21, and Saturday, May 22 from 9:00 a.m. through 5:00 p.m. Goods presented for sale will include all donated items left over from the last yard sale as well as any items currently donated by A.S./A.P. members. Any expensive items donated for the last sale will of course have any fee collected returned to the donator.

If you would like to contribute to the combined yard sale and donate thereby to A.S./A.P. and St. Clares, please contact Georgette, Joanne, or Rhea at (608) 269-3525. If you can't manage to catch us when we can answer the phone you can always leave a message. Thanks!

Memberships and Annual Meeting

Not that we like to hound you but the annual meeting is coming up again. It will be held at the home of Rhea (your Secretary) and Georgette (your President) on Wednesday, July 21,1999 at 7:00 p.m.

You must be a current member in order to vote at the meeting so check your mailing labels to see if you are current if you don't remember, or you can call Joanne (your Treasurer) and she will let you know your status.

Do Not Bother Babies

Yes it is spring and summer at last. Yes there are going to be baby birds, deer, raccoons, etc. Do Not Bother Them. When you see a baby animal by itself that does not necessarily mean the baby is in distress. Mother deer and other mothers often can leave their babies alone for over 8-12 hours that you can see but they are always nearby, you just can't see them. Baby raccoons go swimming by themselves often, that is one of the lessons in life, so leave them alone.

Baby birds are the most often violated babies who are disturbed by humans. For goodness sake use some common sense. If you have to cut down a tree, don't do it in the spring! There is almost certain to be baby birds and squirrels in there. You are better off to leave the tree trimming until fall anyway so that the tree is not running so much sap and then it will dry for firewood sooner.
