A.S./A.P. - About Us Who Are We? What Do We Do?We are the local people of the Monroe County area who are concerned Please contact us in person at a fund raiser or drop us a note at:
Neuter/Spay Your PetsFor every one person that is born 15 dogs and 45 cats are also born! In order to keep up with the current flood of puppies and kittens, every person would have to own 2 dogs and 6 cats during their entire lifetime. (Assuming that people live for 75 years, and dogs and cats for 10) A household of 5 would have to harbor 10 dogs and 30 cats! Pet overpopulation is a big problem, as these statistics show. Tens of thousands of animals are euthanized by animal shelters and veterinarians
every day. Neutering/spaying your pets significantly decreases the number of unwanted
animals who may suffer needlessly or be abandoned. Due to the constantly increasing
number of feral animals, we strongly encourage you to neuter/spay your pets. For more
information on our neuter/spay program, contact us. Sponser or Foster A CatCat Sponsor ProgramThe sponsor program for A.S./A.P. asks you to pay the ordinary expenses for one cat or kitten while it is being maintained at the shelter. Normal expenses include original innoculations for distemper and a blood test for feline leukemia and FIV (feline AIDS). You are invited to the shelter to pick out the cat or kitten you wish to sponsor. If you decide not to come in we will assign you a cat. You can choose an adult, already neutered or spayed, or a kitten. If the animal has not been named, you can choose a name for the cat. You will receive a picture of your sponsored cat and will be notified when it has been adopted. At that time you can decide if you wish to sponsor another cat. You can cancel your sponsorship at any time. Please consider sponsoring a cat temporarily that is being maintained at the A.S./A.P. shelter. It only costs $10.00 per month to provide the food and medications for a cat that is waiting for a permanent home. Foster Home ProgramWe have a desperate need for foster homes for cats. Many of the cats and kittens who come to us have physical problems which are not life-threatening, but make them unavailable for adoption until they have time to recuperate. These conditions include starvation, skin problems, and shyness or fear, just to name a few. These foster homes would be on a limited time basis. The animals are placed for adoption as soon as they are ready. Homes would need to be indoors only, unless the cat has come from an indoor-outdoor situation and is used to that environment. A.S./A.P. would pay for all medications necessary. Our foster home program provides a normal home environment for cats and
kittens that are in need of extra care before they are ready for adoption.
Foster homes can receive $10.00 per month for ordinary expenses. Want To Help? You may have guessed that due to the health problems and pet supply costs
for the numbers of animals that we help, we are normally in need of funds. ©
